Kitchen makeover

Creating a timeless yet modern space was the aim of the owners of this kitchen. The resulting area is light, bright and very practical.

Fresh start

In renovating this kitchen, a dividing wall was knocked down and a window added to provide natural light. Hard-wearing Baltic pine timber floors were stained with semi-gloss polyurethane in half walnut and half black. The floors continue through into the living and dining areas, thus extending the flow of space. Matching splashback tiles to the prevalent colours in your kitchen also helps to make the space look larger (ours are from Aeria).

Island style

The free-standing island in the centre of the kitchen fulfils many functions. As well as working as a breakfast bar, it is also a handy food preparation area, and contains dual sinks, two Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer dishwashers, and a cupboard for cleaning products. Having two dishwashers can be remarkably convenient – use one for morning and one for evening, or one for crockery and one for glassware.

Well ordered

These A-Plan ‘Soft Touch’ drawers come with adaptable dividers for different configurations – eliminate the clutter of a utensil and cutlery drawer, or create a neatly ordered space for your dried herbs and spices.

Green pieces

As the kitchen is dominated by white and stainless steel, fresh touches from nature, such as a pot of growing herbs or a platter of fruit, help to personalise the space and inject colour.
